Multiple vehicle collisions reported in Ontario and Ottawa

In Oshawa, five children under the age of three and one adult daycare worker were struck by a vehicle on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at the intersection of Niagara Drive and Sheridan Street when a 62-year-old female driver attempting a left turn struck the pedestrians as they crossed the street. A two-year-old child was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries but is currently in stable condition. The daycare worker and one other child sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries, while three additional children were treated for minor injuries.

In Ottawa, two separate fatal collisions occurred on the same day. A pedestrian was killed near Cambrian Road around 6:15 p.m. after being struck by a vehicle. Later, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Devine Road, a driver died after their vehicle veered off the road and struck a pole. Ottawa Police have urged increased vigilance for vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, noting the importance of shared responsibility for road safety.
