Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train to use advanced track technology
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is implementing advanced track engineering technologies to support speeds of up to 320 km/h. To ensure passenger comfort and safety, the project will utilize movable crossings (also known as swing-nose crossings) and canted turnouts.
These technologies are designed to eliminate the conventional physical gaps found in standard track crossings, which reduces mechanical jolts, vibrations, and lateral forces during track transitions. The system also includes dual point machine switch rails and an interlocking signaling system to confirm that all components are securely locked before a train is permitted to proceed. This infrastructure is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures and electromagnetic conditions.
Additionally, a Multi-Modal Transport Hub is being constructed at Sabarmati. This facility aims to integrate the high-speed rail station with the existing Sabarmati broad-gauge railway station, the Ahmedabad Metro, and the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) to facilitate seamless passenger transfers.
