Mumbai and Palm Beach announce major cruise infrastructure expansions

The Mumbai Port Authority has unveiled ‘The Ballard Pier’ vision, a project aimed at transforming Mumbai’s eastern waterfront into a hub for cruise tourism, leisure, and retail. Operated by J M Baxi Ports & Logistics under a 30-year concession, the development includes the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal, which is designed to handle approximately one million passengers annually. The initiative seeks to expand the port's role beyond cargo handling to include lifestyle, dining, and public engagement with the city's maritime heritage.

In Florida, the Port of Palm Beach has approved a 43 million dollar landside investment to upgrade its cruise facilities. The expansion includes modernizing the existing passenger terminal, constructing a new 1,100-space parking structure, adding upgraded boarding bridges, and improving security screening areas. Cruise operations currently account for 32 percent of the port’s 25.6 million dollar annual gross revenue, and the upgrades are intended to better accommodate modern cruise lines and luxury operators.
