Mumbai Cricket Association adds ninth T20 League franchise
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced the expansion of its T20 Mumbai League with the addition of a ninth franchise. This new team will represent the Navi Mumbai region.
Aspects Sports has been awarded the operating rights for the franchise. The deal is valued at ₹106.88 crore over a six-year period, with an initial payment of ₹12.21 crore for the first season.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik stated that the expansion is a significant milestone intended to bring the game closer to all corners of the Mumbai cricketing ecosystem. Rajdip Gupta, Chairman of the T20 Mumbai League Governing Council, noted that increasing the franchise base aims to build a more sustainable ecosystem and provide more opportunities for player growth.
