Mumbai Cricket Association invites bids for ninth T20 league franchise
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has opened a tender process to introduce a ninth franchise to the T20 Mumbai League for the 2026 season. The new team is designated to represent the Navi Mumbai region, marking the first expansion of the league beyond its current eight-team structure.
Interested parties can obtain bid documentation from the MCA office at the Cricket Centre, Wankhede Stadium, between August 10 and August 25, 2026. A non-refundable fee of INR 2.5 lakh is required to access the paperwork, which can be paid via demand draft or bank transfer.
The expansion follows a successful fourth edition of the league in June 2026, which saw significant growth in viewership. The men’s competition drew over 65 million television viewers, while digital engagement on JioHotstar rose by 66 per cent. The 2026 season also featured the debut of the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai Women’s League.
