Mumbai heavy rains disrupt local transport and air travel
Heavy rainfall in Mumbai and surrounding areas has caused significant disruptions to local transportation and air travel. On Tuesday, intense downpours delayed Harbour and Central Railway services by several minutes and slowed traffic on major routes, including the Eastern and Western Express Highways and the Thane-Belapur road due to waterlogging.
SpiceJet issued a passenger advisory warning that heavy weather conditions in Mumbai could affect all departures, arrivals, and consequential flights. The airline urged travelers to monitor their flight status via official platforms before heading to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted continued rain across Maharashtra, with intensity expected to increase starting August 13.
