Mumbai implements restrictive orders and HSRP enforcement
Authorities in Mumbai have implemented several measures to maintain public order and regulatory compliance. The Mumbai Police have issued restrictive orders effective from midnight on September 9 through September 23. These orders prohibit gatherings of five or more people without prior permission and ban public processions, unauthorized use of loudspeakers, and fireworks to ensure public peace and address potential security concerns.
Simultaneously, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has intensified enforcement of High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) requirements. In August, inspections across four RTO zones resulted in 1,685 vehicles being found in violation of the mandate, which applies to all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019. Significant fines were collected during these operations, with the Wadala, Borivali, and Andheri RTOs reporting substantial penalties from hundreds of non-compliant drivers.
