Mumbai Indians announce major coaching staff overhaul

Mumbai Indians have appointed former Indian international Robin Uthappa as batting coach as part of a significant restructuring of their coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2027 season. The revamp follows a ninth-place finish in the 2026 season.

Other key appointments include Mitchell McClenaghan as bowling coach, T. Dilip as fielding coach, and Dhawal Kulkarni as development bowling coach. These changes follow the departures of Mahela Jayawardene from the head coach position, with Kieron Pollard stepping in to lead the team. The franchise also parted ways with former bowling coaches Lasith Malinga and Paras Mhambrey, as well as fielding coach Carl Hopkinson.

Uthappa, a member of India’s 2007 World T20-winning squad, brings extensive IPL experience to the role. McClenaghan and Kulkarni both return to the franchise where they previously played and won titles.
