Mahim Causeway collision kills two in Mumbai

On July 29, 2026, a high‑speed KTM motorcycle struck a 50‑year‑old woman crossing Mahim Causeway in Mumbai at around 9:20 p.m. The woman, Mangala Tandel, was walking with her two daughters to visit a relative on the opposite side of the road. The rider, 21‑year‑old Dhruv Manoj Gurav, was also critically injured.

Mangala Tandel’s husband, Ashok Tandel – a Bank of Baroda employee – heard the crash and found his wife and the rider lying on the road. Mangala was taken to Raheja Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Gurav was first taken to Bhabha Hospital, then transferred to Raheja Hospital, where he later died during treatment.

Mahim Police have registered a case against Gurav under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, alleging rash and negligent riding at high speed. Police are awaiting the rider’s blood‑sample report to determine whether he was under the influence of alcohol. The investigation remains ongoing.
