Mumbai Police arrest domestic help for theft at Ameesha Patel's parents' home

Mumbai Police have arrested a 40-year-old domestic worker, Seema Vinod Ghate, for the alleged theft of diamond-studded gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 5 lakh from the home of actress Ameesha Patel’s parents.

The theft reportedly occurred in January 2026 at the family residence in the Churchgate area. Asha Patel, the actress’s mother, had expressed suspicions regarding Ghate, who had been employed as a domestic helper at the residence for about one and a half years. After repeated denials from the suspect, Asha Patel filed a formal complaint with the Marine Drive police.

Following an investigation by the Crime Detection Team, Ghate was traced to Virar and taken into custody. She was produced before a court and has been remanded to police custody until September 15. Authorities are currently working to recover the stolen jewellery and are investigating whether the accused has a prior criminal record.
