Mumbai police conduct raids at 13 sites in large drug crackdown
The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti‑Narcotics Cell deployed ten teams to raid 13 locations across the city, including Agri‑Pad, Bandra, Colaba, Parel and Ghatkopar. Police seized drugs worth about ₹50.74 crore, including the synthetic stimulant Mephadrone, along with weapons and equipment used for drug production. Investigators say the chemicals for making MD‑type drugs were ordered online from eleven purported companies, but the addresses provided were fictitious, prompting further questioning of local residents.
A separate operation in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district uncovered illegal narcotics valued at ₹5 million and led to the arrest of three smugglers, highlighting a broader pattern of drug‑related enforcement actions in India.
