Mumbai police probe sextortion extortion case and fatal assault over public urination

Police in Mumbai are investigating a sextortion case in which a 31‑year‑old man downloaded the LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr, was lured to Govandi, stripped, filmed naked and forced to transfer ₹30,000 after threats to circulate the video. Four suspects – Wahid, Salman, Saif and Tabrez – have been booked and an FIR was filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.

In a separate incident, 24‑year‑old labourer Farhan Khan died after confronting a man urinating near his residence in Kurla East. The accused, identified as Sajid Ali Shakir Ali Siddiqui, allegedly punched Khan and pushed him down a concrete staircase, causing fatal head injuries. A murder case has been registered and the suspect remains absconding while police search for him.
