Mumbai property registrations hit 14-year high for September
Mumbai’s real estate market has demonstrated significant momentum, with September property registrations reaching 12,622 units. This figure represents a 5 per cent increase from the previous year and marks the highest level for the month of September in over 14 years.
Festive periods have acted as major drivers for activity. During the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, Mumbai recorded 5,379 registrations, a 22 per cent increase from the prior year and the highest festive-period tally in four years. While total stamp duty collections for September declined by 5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,227 crore, collections during the Ganesh Chaturthi period rose by 32 per cent to Rs 640 crore.
Market data indicates a shift in buyer behavior toward greater discernment. There is an increasing demand for premium housing, larger homes, and properties in well-connected areas with quality infrastructure. Buyers are placing higher importance on developer credibility, lifestyle, and future resale or rental potential.
