Mumbai protest detains actor Imran Khan and Zayn Marie
Bollywood actor Imran Khan, along with Zayn Marie and Lekha Washington, was detained by Mumbai Police on October 10 during a protest at August Kranti Maidan. The demonstration was organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Following their release, Zayn Marie shared a video on social media showing marks on her arms, fingers, and legs, stating, “Do not scare us so much that no fear is left in the first place.” Imran Khan also shared updates from a police vehicle, which sparked significant social media attention and memes due to his shared name with the imprisoned Pakistani politician.
In a related development, politician Kirit Somaiya filed a complaint with the Gamdevi Police Station alleging that the actor is a US citizen holding an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card. Somaiya argued that as a foreign national, the actor’s participation in an agitation against a constitutional authority may violate immigration laws.
