Mumbai ranks as only Indian city in global workcation index
Mumbai has debuted as the only Indian city in the fourth edition of IWG’s Work from Anywhere Index, ranking as a global workcation destination. With a total score of 77, Mumbai outperformed cities such as London and Miami. The city’s strengths include transport affordability, climate, accommodation, and the availability of flexible workspaces, though it received lower scores for broadband speed and local event availability.
Globally, Bangkok topped the 2026 index, followed by Tokyo and Barcelona. The report highlights a growing trend in remote work, noting that 51% of surveyed workers have employers offering work-from-anywhere policies.
Additionally, data from Cushman & Wakefield indicates that India leads the world in flexible workspace maturity, scoring 100 on its index, ahead of the UK, France, and the US. India’s flexible office inventory, which stood at 79.7 million square feet across its top eight cities in mid-2025, is projected to exceed 100 million square feet in 2026.
