Mumbai to conduct prototype siren tests on October 8-9
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that prototype siren equipment will undergo testing in Mumbai on October 8 and 9. The tests are scheduled to take place at the Old Secretariat and the Civil Defense College near Cross Maidan in the Fort area.
Developed by a team from the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) under the guidance of the Director General of Civil Defense in New Delhi, these sirens are part of a national effort to strengthen civil defense systems. The equipment is currently installed at three locations: the Old Secretariat, the Annex Building in Fort, and the Civil Defense College.
The BMC has urged citizens not to panic when they hear the sirens, clarifying that this is a pre-scheduled technical test and not an indication of an actual emergency or threat. Local police and civil defense teams will be present during the testing to ensure safety and manage any potential inconvenience.
