India and Finland strengthen circular economy ties amid Mumbai tragedy

India and Finland are strengthening business and technology partnerships in the circular economy. During the India Circular Economy Forum (ICEF) 2026 in New Delhi, policymakers and experts discussed resource-efficient growth and the evolving India-EU economic relationship. Antti Herlevi, Counsellor for Trade and Investments at the Embassy of Finland, noted that over 100 Finnish companies are already active in India in sectors such as clean energy, waste management, and digital solutions.

Separately, a tragic accident occurred in Mumbai's Bhuleshwar area during a Ganesh idol arrival procession. A 22-foot idol of ‘Bhuleshwaracha Raja’ collapsed, killing two people, including the Ganpati Mandal president Sanket Nevshe, and injuring five others. Preliminary investigations suggest the collapse was caused by technical failures, such as loose nuts, bolts, or broken welding supports on the iron frame. Emergency services, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade and BMC, responded to the scene to provide aid and manage the aftermath.
