Mumbai: Woman arrested after speeding car kills child in Bandra West
A young boy, identified as Ansh Ravindra Gupta, was killed on Sunday afternoon in Mumbai’s Bandra West area after being struck and run over by a speeding vehicle. The incident occurred near Jijamata Garden on John Baptist Road while the child was attempting to cross the road.
Police arrested the driver, 45-year-old Megha Rawal, who was reportedly driving an Innova Crysta at excessive speeds while distracted by a mobile phone call. The victim was rushed to Holy Family Hospital, where medical staff declared him dead on arrival.
Authorities have registered a case against Rawal under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 105 for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, Section 281 for rash driving, and Section 125 for endangering life or personal safety. She also faces charges under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act for dangerous driving. Investigations into the specific circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
