Mundarlo Bridge replacement to improve NSW freight access
A new $30.7 million Mundarlo Bridge is being constructed to replace an existing single-lane crossing on Tenandra Road over the Murrumbidgee River. Located between Gundagai and Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, the new two-lane structure is designed to accommodate B-double heavy vehicles and farm machinery.
The project aims to improve regional freight reliability by constructing the bridge at a higher level, allowing it to remain operational during river flows of up to 100,000 megalitres per day. Construction is currently on schedule, with the bridge expected to be operational by the end of 2026 and handed over in early 2027.
Due to the upcoming installation of major concrete components, the existing Mundarlo Bridge will close from Monday, September 28, through Friday, October 2. Motorists traveling between Gundagai and Wagga Wagga must use a detour via Oura Road through Nangus during this period.
