Mundial Mujeres LIBRES football tournament begins regional phase
The regional phase of the Mundial Mujeres LIBRES football tournament has commenced in Puebla, Mexico. This stage follows state-level qualifiers that saw more than 4,600 participants compete across the country.
Winners from the four national regions are now competing for a spot in the national grand final scheduled for October. The tournament is promoted as a tool for social transformation, peace, and the exercise of rights for women, aligned with the vision of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
During the opening event at the Centro Escolar Niños Héroes de Chapultepec (CENCH), officials highlighted the expansion of sports initiatives, noting that there are already more than 1,000 LIBRE centers nationwide.
