Mundo AI raises $24 million to develop perceptual intelligence data
Vancouver-based startup Mundo AI has secured $24 million USD in total funding to develop the data layer for perceptual intelligence. This includes a $20 million USD Series A round and a previously undisclosed $4 million USD seed round.
Mundo AI aims to bridge the gap between current AI models, which excel at reasoning over structured text, and the unstructured information of the physical world. The company focuses on providing the datasets, evaluations, and applied research necessary for other AI laboratories and companies to train systems capable of processing sensory information, such as audio and video.
The Series A round was led by GreatPoint Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator, E12 Ventures, and Next Frontier Capital. The company plans to utilize the new capital to expand its research, engineering, and operations teams.
