Muneeba Ali appointed Pakistan captain for ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy

Wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali has been named captain of the Pakistan women’s cricket team for the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy 2026. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, from November 12 to 25.

Regular captain Fatima Sana will miss the competition due to overlapping commitments with the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia. Ayesha Zafar has been appointed vice-captain. The 14-member squad includes players such as Eman Naseer, Eyman Fatima, Sadaf Shamas, Saira Jabeen, Shawaal Zulfiqar, and Gull Feroza. The bowling attack will be led by spinner Nashra Sundhu, supported by Momina Riasat, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, Tasmia Rubab, and Waheeda Akhtar.

Pakistan will compete in Group B alongside Thailand, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and Zimbabwe. The squad is set to assemble in Lahore on November 6 for a training camp before departing for the UAE. This tournament marks a return to the national setup for Muneeba Ali, who had previously been absent from the squad during the Asian Games.
