Mungyeong Technical High School designated as AI and robotics Meister High School

Mungyeong Technical High School has been officially designated as a Meister High School specializing in physical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics. Following a conditional designation in June, the school passed the Ministry of Education’s compliance review, securing final approval to transition into a specialized vocational institution.

The school aims to open its new curriculum on March 1, 2028, focusing on training experts in robot system integration (SI) using physical AI. The program will initially recruit 60 students nationwide across four classes: two for AI Robot Development and two for AI Robot Control. To support students traveling from across the country, the school will provide dormitory housing, including new construction and remodeling of existing facilities.

A total of 28.6 billion KRW will be invested in the transition and infrastructure, funded by the Ministry of Education (5 billion KRW), the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education (21.2 billion KRW), Gyeongsangbuk-do (1.2 billion KRW), and Mungyeong City (1.2 billion KRW).

To strengthen industry ties, the school has signed business agreements with 65 organizations and companies, including the Korea Institute of Robot and Convergence (KIRO), the Korea AI Robot Industry Association, Neuro-Mechanics, and Hanwha Robotics. The school also plans to establish an ‘AI Robot Joint Training Center’ to serve as a regional hub for AI and robotics education.
