Mungyeong Volunteer Fire Brigade wins overall title at Gyeongbuk festival

The Mungyeong Volunteer Fire Brigade secured first place overall at the ‘2026 One Becoming Volunteer Fire Brigade Harmony Festival’ held at the Uiseong General Stadium on the 28th. The event, hosted by Gyeongsangbuk-do and organized by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, brought together approximately 5,000 members from 22 fire stations across the province.

Participants competed in five categories designed to test firefighting skills and teamwork. Technical competitions included an 800m relay wearing personal protective equipment, lifebuoy throwing, and drawbag throwing. Cooperation-based events featured hula hoop relays and collaborative basket stacking.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo attended the event to encourage the volunteers, noting that their dedication to community safety despite their daily occupations serves as a vital foundation for disaster response. Mungyeong Fire Station Chief Shin Bong-seok expressed gratitude to the members, stating that the station will continue to support training and activities to ensure their skills translate into community safety.
