Muni University breaks ground on Shs182bn hospital in Arua

Muni University has commenced construction of a Shs182 billion teaching and research hospital in Arua. The 200-bed facility is intended to serve as a tertiary and quaternary referral centre for the West Nile sub-region.

Vice President Jessica Alupo officiated the groundbreaking ceremony, noting that the project aims to strengthen access to specialised healthcare and support the university’s medical training programmes. The facility is designed to integrate healthcare delivery, medical education, and scientific research. Construction is expected to be completed within 30 months, with the goal of reducing the necessity for Ugandans to seek specialised medical treatment abroad.
