Munich Administrative Court Upholds Sudelfeld Motorcycle Ban

The Administrative Court of Munich dismissed a lawsuit filed by a motorcyclist challenging the one‑way, temporary ban on motorcycles on the Sudelfeld stretch of the B 307 between Rosenheim and Bayrischzell. The court ruled that the restriction, imposed by the Rosenheim district authority, is a lawful trial measure intended to improve safety and reduce noise for local residents. Since the ban began in spring 2025, registered motorcycle‑involved accidents on the segment fell from 26 in 2024 to five in 2025, with no accidents recorded on the closed sections.

The decision was welcomed by Bavarian officials, including CSU MP and parliamentary state secretary Daniela Ludwig, who said the outcome confirms coordinated police, administrative, and community efforts. The German Motorcycle Association (Bundesverband der Motorradfahrer, BVDM) expressed disappointment and said it will await the court’s written justification before deciding on further legal steps, noting that the ban may become permanent after a review slated for spring 2027.
