Munich Airport opens new P8 parking garage amid regional rail protests

The construction firm Max Bögl has completed the new P8 parking garage at Munich Airport. The facility features approximately 3,700 parking spaces across eight levels and includes modern technical equipment such as license plate recognition and an intelligent guidance system. The structure is designed to support future electric mobility needs through a flexible charging infrastructure.

Separately, Deutsche Bahn is facing significant backlash regarding plans to reduce regional train services between Augsburg and Munich. A petition initiated by commuters has gathered over 1,500 signatures to protest the proposed reduction of twelve regional trains during peak morning and afternoon hours starting in 2028. Commuters argue that the current service is already overcrowded and that reducing capacity will force more people into cars, contradicting climate goals.
