In Munich, mayor Dominik Krause activated a task force after a record‑heat spell and low groundwater levels left the city's water supply near its limits. The city has turned off ten ornamental fountains and reduced the operating hours of 56 others, cutting fountain water use by 43 % and overall consumption by about 30 %. Residents are urged to limit garden watering, pool filling, and car washes as the city works to keep the supply secure.
