Munich and Frankfurt implement subway service changes
Public transport services in Munich and Frankfurt are undergoing significant adjustments due to infrastructure work and technical testing.
In Munich, the MVG is modifying operations on the U4 and U5 lines starting Monday, October 26, to facilitate escalator replacements at Max-Weber-Platz. The U4 will only operate between Arabellapark and Max-Weber-Platz until November 27. During this period, the U5 will provide service every five minutes between Odeonsplatz and Westendstraße to compensate for the U4 suspension. Commuters can use tram lines 16, 17, 19, and 21 as alternatives for reaching the city center.
In Frankfurt, nighttime service disruptions will affect the U4 and U5 lines during late October and early November. The U4 will be suspended between 10:00 PM and 3:30 AM to allow for test runs of the DTC digital train protection system. The U5 will operate only between Preungesheim and Hauptfriedhof during these hours. Replacement services include increased frequency on the U6 and U7 lines, as well as additional tram and bus services.
