Munich and Münster hold free festivals promoting diversity and solidarity
Munich marked World Refugee Day on 20 June 2026 with a free cultural festival at the Refugio Kunstwerkstatt on Dachauer Straße 90. Organized by a coalition of local groups, the event featured live music, workshops, information stalls and family‑friendly activities aimed at fostering dialogue between people with and without migration experience.
In Münster, the state celebrated the NRW‑Day anniversary on 29 August 2026 with a free summer concert on the Schlossplatz. Minister President Hendrik Wüst hosted the event, which included the Philharmonie Südwestfalen under chief conductor Ingmar Beck and a program of international soloists, drawing an estimated 10 000 attendees. Both festivals emphasized openness, cultural exchange and community cohesion.
