Munich Christopher Street Day Parade draws up to 300,000 participants

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Munich hosted its annual Christopher Street Day (CSD) under the motto “Our Diversity. Our Strength”. More than 200 LGBTQ+ groups marched through the city centre, and organisers expected up to 300,000 people at the accompanying street festival on Ludwigstraße.

The event took place during record‑high temperatures. Organisers installed drinking‑water stations, misting devices, and urged participants to use sunscreen, wear hats and stay hydrated. Police advised spectators to seek shade. No major heat‑related incidents were reported.

München’s mayor Dominik Krause (Green Party), who is openly gay, served as patron of the parade. The CSD also aimed to counter a rise in queer‑phobic incidents in Bavaria, which rose from 289 to 413 cases last year according to the Strong! counseling service.

Germany’s wider Pride season began in Munich and will continue in cities such as Cologne, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Berlin, Stuttgart and Hamburg through early August, highlighting nationwide support for LGBTQ+ rights.
