Munich court trial begins over rap concert gold chain robberies

A trial has commenced at the Landgericht München I regarding a series of violent robberies targeting concertgoers at a rap concert in Munich on March 1, 2025. Prosecutors allege that a gang targeted attendees wearing prominent gold jewelry, specifically focusing on men with expensive accessories.

A 23-year-old defendant, who was born in Spain, is facing charges of nine counts of aggravated robbery, as well as attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of bodily harm. The prosecution states that during a 75-minute window, the group worked in shifts to snatch chains from victims' necks before disappearing into the crowd.

The stolen items include nine gold chains with a total estimated value of approximately 11,000 euros. One single piece of jewelry was reportedly valued at 6,000 euros. The attacks resulted in physical injuries, including abrasions and strangulation marks on the victims. Three other men are being prosecuted separately in connection with these events.
