Munich court tries man for 123 kg cocaine trafficking

A 40-year-old Croatian national, Vladimir F., appeared before the Munich Regional Court to face charges for the resale of 123 kilograms of cocaine. Prosecutors allege he was part of an international drug trafficking gang and served as a dispatcher for sales in southern Germany, specifically within the Munich metropolitan area.

The investigation, led by prosecutor Jakob Schmidkonc, utilized decrypted communications to uncover a wide criminal network. While eleven members were arrested in October 2023, the gang reportedly purchased an additional 725 kilograms of cocaine for 15.5 million euros later that year. Vladimir F. was apprehended by a special police unit in Munich after a period of time spent in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Defense attorney Jörg Sklebitz argues there is no evidence that the defendant was a member of the gang, suggesting he may have been a buyer rather than a distributor, noting a lack of documented profit flow. The presiding judge, Susanne Blaschke, noted that while the defendant maintained close ties to professional narcotics actors, his exact role is still being clarified.
