Munich daycare worker sentenced for abusing toddlers

A Munich district court has sentenced a 58-year-old daycare worker to a two-year suspended sentence for the abuse of toddlers. The woman was found guilty of eight counts of mistreating dependents and three counts of intentional bodily harm.

Between April 2024 and July 2025, while serving as a nursery group leader, the defendant allegedly hit, threatened, and humiliated children. Specific incidents included throwing a two-year-old to the ground, causing an elbow injury, and making death threats against another child. The court also noted she intentionally withheld food and neglected hygiene needs, such as changing soiled diapers.

In addition to the suspended sentence, the court imposed a three-year professional ban and ordered the woman to pay 5,000 euros to the Munich Child Protection Association. During the trial, the defendant admitted to her actions and expressed remorse, stating, “I will never forgive myself for what I have done.”
