Munich high‑rise project faces legal challenge by HochhausSTOP coalition

Two controversial high‑rise towers planned for Munich's Neuhausen district on the former parcel‑post site have received official approval as of late June. The development envisions 200 apartments and about 3,000 jobs, and would alter the city's skyline, exceeding the traditional 100‑metre height limit set after a 2004 citizen initiative.

The citizen group HochhausSTOP, led by second chairman Wolfgang Czisch and first chairman Robert Brannekämper, announced plans to file a norm‑control lawsuit against the building plan at the Administrative Court. The coalition is consulting individual property owners and associations that have standing under the Administrative Court Rules to challenge the plan, while the coalition itself cannot sue directly. The group claims to have gathered nearly 50,000 signatures opposing the project.
