Munich introduces new safety and accessibility measures for Oktoberfest

The 191st Oktoberfest in Munich, scheduled from September 19 to October 4, will introduce several changes following a turbulent previous year characterized by overcrowding and security concerns.

To improve visitor management, a new coordination center will be established to enhance communication between the city and security authorities. Modern observation management will also be implemented to detect and resolve overcrowding more effectively.

To spread out visitor density, tent music will begin earlier: traditional brass music will be permitted starting at 11:00 AM on weekdays and 10:00 AM on weekends. Accessibility measures are also being expanded, including the introduction of "Hidden Disabilities Sunflower" lanyards for those with non-visible impairments and the ability to reserve wheelchairs online.
