Munich morning walks promoted for heart health and heat avoidance

Health experts advise that a brisk 20‑30 minute walk five days a week meets the recommended 150‑300 minutes of moderate activity per week, helping lower blood pressure, improve blood‑sugar regulation and support cardiovascular health. The guidance, cited by the fitness site My Personal Trainer, emphasizes consistency over duration and recommends medical consultation for anyone with existing heart symptoms.

In Munich, journalist Johanna Stöckl compiled ten early‑morning walking routes designed to be completed before 7 a.m. to escape the city’s summer heat. Each route is roughly four to five kilometres and can be finished in about an hour, passing green spaces, lakes, streams or canals. Highlighted paths include the southern Englischer Garten near the Eisbach and Schwabinger Bach, a loop around the Olympiapark lakes and Olympiaberg, and a circuit in the Schlosspark Nymphenburg linking the Pagodenburger and Badenburger lakes. The routes aim to combine the health benefits of regular walking with cooler, less crowded environments.
