Germany concert industry surpasses pre-pandemic levels

The German concert landscape has surpassed pre-pandemic levels for the first time since COVID-19. According to data from GEMA, 2025 saw 267,145 concerts and approximately 74.5 million attendees, representing a 1.6 percent increase in events and a 7.7 percent increase in visitors compared to 2019.

However, the recovery is unevenly distributed. While large and medium-sized concerts have seen significant growth—with the 5,000 to 15,000 attendee segment growing 32.9 percent over 2019 levels—smaller venues with up to 500 attendees have seen much slower growth, remaining only slightly above 2019 figures.

Across Germany, various regional cultural events and festivals are also active, including the Summer Breeze metal festival, the Wipfelrauschen festival in Erfurt, and various community celebrations in Leutkirch, Eichstätt, and the Schwarzatal region.
