Dingolfing police launch manhunt after fatal shooting at doorstep

Police in Dingolfing, Bavaria, have launched an intensive manhunt following a fatal shooting on Monday. An unknown assailant reportedly approached a residence in the Schwedenschanze area and opened fire on a man as he opened the door. The victim, identified in some reports as a 43-year-old, sustained severe injuries and died at the scene despite resuscitation efforts.

The suspect fled the scene in a black vehicle, possibly a BMW with tinted windows. Authorities have described the suspect as a man who speaks standard German, has a somewhat round face, a mustache, and was wearing a dark hooded jacket.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Landshut Public Prosecutor's Office and criminal investigators, are conducting forensic work and searching for witnesses. While police have issued an all-clear for the general public regarding immediate danger in southern Dingolfing, they warn that the suspect may still be armed and urge citizens to report any suspicious activity without putting themselves at risk.
