A 14-year-old boy of Turkish nationality and Kurdish descent was seriously injured in the upper body after being shot by police in Munich's Schwabing district. The incident occurred on a Tuesday evening when the teenager, who was accompanied by a girl of similar age, was reportedly handling a weapon that closely resembled a Beretta 92 9mm pistol.

Police state that the boy turned toward plainclothes officers while still holding the weapon after being ordered to drop it. However, the boy's mother and local political groups, including the Munich Left and the Kurdish Center, offer a different account. They claim the teenager had already laid the weapon down and raised his hands, shouting that it was a toy, before the shot was fired.

Following the incident, approximately 100 people held a peaceful demonstration in Munich against what they described as racist police violence. The Bavarian police union (GdP) has strongly rejected these allegations of racism, stating that the nationality of a suspect is irrelevant in life-threatening situations and that realistic-looking softair weapons are indistinguishable from real firearms during dynamic encounters. The incident is under investigation.
