Munich rail services expand for Oktoberfest

To accommodate the high volume of visitors during Oktoberfest, from September 19 to October 4, regional rail services in Munich are being expanded. The Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB) will operate additional evening trains from Munich to Geltendorf and Buchloe, as well as increased connections toward Salzburg. These additional services are partly intended to mitigate the impact of ongoing construction work by DB InfraGO AG between Buchloe and Munich.

Deutsche Bahn expects an increase of approximately 100,000 passengers per day on the Munich S-Bahn during the festival. To manage the crowds, a 20-minute frequency will be offered on all lines until well after midnight. Travelers are advised to plan ahead due to increased passenger numbers and potential congestion. Deutsche Bahn recommends traveling to the Munich main station and walking approximately 15 minutes to the festival grounds, or using the S-Bahn to Hackerbrücke.
