Munich ranked as Germany's top luxury travel destination

A ranking by travel operator Fit Reisen has identified the most exclusive travel destinations in Germany, evaluating 177 cities and towns based on five-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury shopping, and golf clubs within a 30-kilometer radius.

Munich secured the top position with 946 out of 1,062 possible points, driven by its high concentration of luxury boutiques, jewelers, and elite dining options such as Jan Hartwig’s three-star restaurant, JAN. The city also benefits from numerous five-star hotels and nearby golf facilities around Lake Starnberg.

Düsseldorf followed closely in second place, while Rottach-Egern, a small town with fewer than 6,000 residents, ranked among the top five destinations, highlighting the presence of high-end tourism in smaller Bavarian locales.
