Munich subway station attack leaves woman seriously injured

A 49-year-old woman was seriously injured during a violent attack at the Moosach U-Bahn station in Munich on Saturday morning, October 24, 2026. The suspect, a 34-year-old man, allegedly attacked the woman with a sharp object in the station's mezzanine area, causing her to fall several meters down a staircase.

Witnesses provided critical assistance; a doctor on-site provided initial medical care, while two other bystanders intervened to prevent the suspect from fleeing, holding him until police arrived. The victim underwent emergency surgery and is reported to be in non-life-threatening condition.

The Munich homicide squad has taken over the investigation into attempted murder. Police recovered a knife at the scene, though they are still determining if it was the weapon used. The suspect, who reportedly appeared to be in a disturbed psychological state, has been detained. The incident caused significant disruptions to the U3 subway line and required extensive police cordons at the station.
