Munich unveils high‑power EV charging stations from XCharge and BMW
XCharge introduced its next‑generation C7 DC fast‑charging station at the Power2Drive Europe show in Munich. The C7 can deliver up to 480 kW, features a barrier‑free dual‑outlet design, adaptive thermal management, and integrated cybersecurity such as TLS 1.3 and OTA updates. It supports OCPP 2.0.1, ISO 15118 Plug & Charge and VDV 261, targeting public, fleet and commercial sites.
BMW, in partnership with its design studio Designworks, installed eight “Charging Trees” at the BMW Welt campus in Munich. Each tree can provide up to 400 kW and includes LED lighting that visualises the charging process, vehicle‑approach sensors and 24‑hour access. The installation combines futuristic design with high‑performance charging and complements an existing underground network of lower‑power chargers.
Both projects reflect growing demand in Europe for ultra‑fast EV charging infrastructure capable of supporting high‑capacity public and commercial applications.
