Munich–Nuremberg RE1 Train Line Disrupted by Technical Fault

A technical fault on the RE1 regional train between Munich and Nuremberg caused extensive delays and cancellations on Thursday and Friday. The issue, centered on the segment between Ingolstadt and Nuremberg, led to bus replacement services (Schienenersatzverkehr) from Ingolstadt to Roth, where passengers could transfer to the S‑Bahn for the remainder of the journey.

Deutsche Bahn advised travelers to use alternative RB 16 services, which also run between Munich and Nuremberg but stop at different stations between Ingolstadt and Nuremberg. The disruption began early Thursday morning, persisted throughout the day, and re‑occurred on Friday, marking the third full‑day outage on the line in a single week. The railway authority noted that further construction work on the ICE corridor in the area is scheduled for autumn.
