Mexico begins 216th Independence Anniversary celebrations

Mexico has commenced its 216th Anniversary of Independence celebrations through various civic and cultural activities. President Claudia Sheinbaum, in her second government report, emphasized that the nation's direction is guided by the people and reaffirmed Mexico's commitment to sovereignty and honesty in governance.

At the state and municipal levels, authorities have issued the 'Bando Solemne' to outline the month's festivities. In Puebla, the State Congress and various municipalities, including San Andrés Cholula and Cuautlancingo, have organized ceremonies, parades, and musical performances. Local leaders, such as Lupita Cuautle and Omar Muñoz, have called for national unity and the replacement of political polarization with dialogue.

In San Andrés Cholula, the program includes flag ceremonies, the traditional 'Grito de Independencia' on September 15, and musical acts such as Los Plebes del Rancho. In Mexico City, Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega also marked the start of the festivities, urging citizens to take responsibility for the country's future and its shared heritage.
