Municipal Assembly opposes biomethane plant in Marés

The Municipal Assembly has expressed opposition to the proposed location of a biomethane plant in Marés. A motion presented by the CDU, which advocated for the protection of local populations and territory, was approved unanimously.

Political parties including CHEGA and the PSD have also voiced concerns regarding the project. Opponents cited potential negative impacts such as odors, noise, water resource issues, increased heavy vehicle traffic, and road safety risks, as well as the potential for fires and explosions. Various political groups have called for the use of all available legal and urban planning instruments to safeguard the environment and the quality of life in the municipality.
