Municipal authorities launch road safety projects in Querétaro, Mexico and Ipiales, Colombia

In Querétaro, Mexico, municipal officials, citizen group Estrategia Misión Cero, and private partners AXA Seguros and Cemex installed four new pedestrian crossings near the Autonomous University of Querétaro, the Instituto Tecnológico de Querétaro and the ISSSTE General Hospital. The crossings were placed after studies showed up to 400 pedestrians per hour on Morelos Street and up to 800 on Mariano Escobedo during peak times.

In Ipiales, Colombia, the municipal Secretariat of Mobility conducted a road‑safety education day along Carrera 5, distributing information about traffic rules, parking regulations and safe pedestrian behavior. Transit commander Fabio Erazo said the outreach aims to reduce congestion and improve coexistence among drivers, walkers and local merchants, and similar activities will continue in other neighborhoods.
