Municipal budget and security discussions in Northern Norway

In Kåfjord, Norway, the municipal director has proposed a budget for 2027–2030 that includes digital security as a specific measure. The proposal aims to improve information security through routines, training, and exercises within existing frameworks, despite the municipality needing 18 other measures to balance its budget. This follows the Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM) raising the national cyber risk level to high due to a tripling of successful attacks on Norwegian businesses in six months.

Meanwhile, the Nordkapp municipal council has unanimously passed a budget adjustment for 2026. The adjustment includes increased operating frameworks for several sectors and a reduction in the investment borrowing limit from 89.1 million NOK to 72.56 million NOK. While the budget addresses overspending in certain sectors, a proposal to investigate alternative locations for a future health center was defeated by a vote of 11.
