Municipal candidates announce mayoral runs in Port Alberni and Parksville

Several candidates have announced their intentions to run in upcoming municipal elections in British Columbia.

In Port Alberni, Mayor Sharie Minions has declared her candidacy for re-election on October 17. Having served on the council for 12 years, including eight as mayor, Minions aims to continue waterfront transformations, job creation, and strengthening relationships with First Nations. She faces mayoral challengers Todd Patola and Don Tecson. Additionally, four individuals—Sam Atwal, Don Davidson, Anna Perry, and Janis Joseph—plan to run for city council.

In Parksville, two-term Councilor Mary Beil has announced her run for mayor. Beil, a retired school principal, intends to focus on updating the Official Community Plan, managing sustainable water delivery for the Englishman River and local aquifers, and addressing the need for affordable housing, primary care access, and improved active transportation.
